Introduction

The GENESIS Micro Focus EXTFH ISAM driver uses direct EXTFH calls to provide very high performance with SQL access. The Micro Focus EXTFH driver supports array fields as well as the WHEN XFD qualifier to maintain legacy ISAM files. The GENESIS Micro Focus EXTFH driver is only available from Micro Focus.

Included with the driver is a GENESIS dictionary maintenance utility. GENESIS relies upon several dictionary tables to keep track of the EXTFH ISAM file layouts, including keys. The utility initializes the GENESIS dictionary and can also read the Micro Focus XFD definitions to define existing files. This is typically done once assuming that the XFD file have been kept in sync with the actual EXTFH files. New definitions can be added and existing ones modified dynamically.
